Your book Ila’s War sounds so interesting. I’m planning to read it after the first of the New Year.
Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Great photo, and one to cherish ! We lost quite a number of memorabilia, souvenirs, and photos, through the war, after a V2 rocket hit the area behind our house in downtown Antwerp, fortunately no one was hurt ! In the 1950s our family left for South Africa, and my Parents gave away and distributed a lot of valuables to family and friends, when we returned to Belgium, we found out that many objects and memorabilia were either lost, sold, or scrapped, another blow to my folks. One more reason to hold and cherish the “oldies”, for they represent true memories … Best wishes for Xmas and the New Year.
Alain, I am so sorry that many of your family treasures have been lost over the years. I can’t speak for others but Christmas, more than any other time, reminds me of past times with my family and brings out a myriad of feelings. Thank you for the kinds words about the photo; it has a place of prominence over my desk. The merriest of Christmases to you and may the New Year bring all of us health and peace.
Thanks for writing, LaRilla. I have been thrilled by the positive response from so many folks – friends and strangers alike – about the book. I hope you enjoy it. Best Wishes for the New Year.
